The CIVS participates in conference on Holocaust Era Assets in Prague from 26th to 30th June 2009


Commission representatives participate in this event which will mark the end of the European

presidency of the Czech Republic. The conference will study the statement of the Washington Conference of 1998, assess the current situation, gaps and needs in terms of restitution and finally open on the future through the establishment of an institute that would be responsible for examining all outstanding cases.

The conference is chaired by Ambassador Miloš POJAR. Co-Chair of the Working Group on Looted art is provided by France. Other working groups are co-chaired by Germany for Education, Austria for Judaica and Jewish cultural property and the United Kingdom for Immovable property. Each group is co-chaired by the Czech Republic.

Mr Jean-Pierre BADY, member of the CIVS, will speak for the group “Looted art”. Mr David RUZiÉ, member of the CIVS, will speak for the group “Immovable property”. Will also be present, Mr GÉLINEAU-LARRIVET and Mr LE RIDANT, President and Director of the CIVS.
