Germany returns five books from Georges Mandel's spoliated library
On July 15, the Prime Minister presided over the ceremony for the restitution of books from the spoliated library of former minister Georges Mandel. This restitution follows a recommendation from the CIVS in February 2021, and at the will of two German libraries to return them to their rightful owners.

A first bill for the return or restitution of looted works of art
In summer 2020 the Commission underlined the need for a legislation to allow the removal of looted artworks from public collections. In his Report addressed to the Prime Minister, the President of the CIVS also recommended the adoption of such a bill, which alone “will make it possible to meet the requirement of memory, justice and efficiency” expected.

Establishment of a Network of European Restitution Committees
The CIVS, which celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2019, will manage the Network during its first year.
